Save the Date:  Northern California VII Showcase Call for Submissions (CFS) Public Workshop

Purpose:  To invite potential partners, private and public sector, to view, understand, discuss and provide valuable insight and feedback regarding a CFS for an expanded Northern California VII Showcase that achieves broad-based public, private and, importantly, California goals.

When:  Monday, April 24, 10 am

Where:  Caltrans District 4 Auditorium, 111 Grand Ave, Oakland, California.

What is the Northern California VII Showcase CFS?

It will be the first realization of vehicle-infrastructure integration (VII) in California - where vehicles and the roadside talk to and listen to one another. Such connectivity offers the potential that timely provision and exchange of information can revolutionize how mobility, safety and commercial services are delivered to drivers and to road operators alike.

Caltrans and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) view VII as having this potential and invite others to join them in building a VII California network and applications. The California partners believe that the San Francisco Bay Area can play a valuable role in facilitating national decision making regarding VII deployment, in addition to providing VII experience and insight for all participants. The CFS will seek to expand participation in VII by adding partners and teams to an already-existing joint public and private sector initiative.

Originally conceived of by MTC and Caltrans, the first phase of the program was completed during the 2005 ITS World Congress held in San Francisco in November of 2005. Additional original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and other public and private sector entities are now being sought to participate in the next phase of the program which will allow all of the partners to truly showcase the potential of VII.

Agenda to be provided before the meeting. For the latest Workshop information and updates, please check the ITS California Website at:
