As our state's population continues to grow, so do our transportation challenges and our need for innovative solutions. The cost of congestion extends beyond wasted time and fuel, impacting our environment through reduced air quality and increased greenhouse gas emissions. Sustainability is no longer just a buzz word, but something we must actively strive for in order to meet these growing challenges and maintain California's high quality of life for generations to come.

Much of PATH's research contains sustainability benefits. From developing more efficient transit systems to improving traffic and vehicle operations, reducing congestion and the number of single occupant vehicles on the road has long been a priority for many of our projects. As more of our research delves into the areas of integrated corridor management and automated and connected vehicles, PATH's focus on sustainability grows as well.
